FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our building services and how we can assist you.

How long does it take to get quotes?

Most homeowners receive their first quote within 24 hours of submitting their request. You'll typically have 3-5 quotes to compare within 48 hours. The timeline depends on your project type, location, and current tradesperson availability. We notify you by email as soon as quotes arrive, so you can review and compare them at your convenience.

Can I choose which tradespeople contact me?

You can't pre-select specific tradespeople, but you can specify requirements when requesting quotes, such as preferred qualifications, budget range, and timeline. We match your project to suitable, verified tradespeople in your area. Once you receive quotes, you have complete control over who you choose to work with. You can review each tradesperson's profile, qualifications, reviews, and experience before making your decision.

Is the service completely free for homeowners?

Yes, absolutely. There are no charges to request quotes, compare tradespeople, view profiles and reviews, message tradespeople, or use any feature of our platform. You only pay the tradesperson you hire for the actual work completed. We're funded by tradespeople who pay for quality leads, so homeowners get full access at no cost whatsoever.

What happens after I accept a quote?

Once you accept a quote, you'll exchange direct contact information with your chosen tradesperson. From there, you'll arrange a convenient time for them to visit your property (if they haven't already), finalize project details and confirm the scope of work, agree on start dates and timeline, confirm payment terms and schedule, and sign any necessary contracts. You work directly with the tradesperson throughout the project, but we're here if you need support or have concerns.

Do I have to accept any of the quotes I receive?

No, you're under no obligation to accept any quote. If the prices don't match your budget, the timelines don't work, or you simply change your mind about the project, you can decline all quotes politely. You can also use the quotes as a benchmark and decide to revisit the project later with adjusted expectations or scope.

How many quotes should I request?

We recommend getting at least 3 quotes. This gives you a realistic understanding of market pricing for your project, different approaches and solutions to consider, various timeline options, and enough choice without becoming overwhelming. You're free to request quotes from as many tradespeople as respond to your project.

Can I request quotes for multiple projects at once?

Yes, submit separate quote requests for each distinct project. This gives you clearer, more accurate quotes for each piece of work and lets you prioritize projects based on quotes and budget. You can also ask tradespeople if they offer package deals for multiple jobs.

What if I need to change my project details after submitting?

Contact any tradespeople who've already quoted to let them know about changes—they may need to adjust their quotes. For significant changes, it's often clearer to submit a new quote request with updated details. Minor clarifications can usually be handled through our messaging system.

How do I know if a quote is fair?

Compare multiple quotes this shows you the market rate. A professional quote will itemize costs and explain pricing. Be wary of quotes significantly lower than others (may indicate cutting corners) or dramatically higher without clear justification. Good tradespeople can explain their pricing. Don't just choose the cheapest consider experience, reviews, and communication quality.

Can I negotiate the timeline or payment terms?

Yes, most tradespeople are willing to discuss timelines and payment schedules. Be reasonable and understand that quality work takes time. Payment terms are usually negotiable, particularly on larger projects. Typical arrangements include a deposit for materials, stage payments for larger jobs, and final payment on completion.

What if no one responds to my quote request?

If you haven't received quotes within 48 hours, we'll reach out to additional tradespeople in your area, potentially expand the search area, and contact you to discuss if adjustments to your project details, budget, or timeline might help. Every legitimate request should get responses we work to ensure you're connected.

What should I prepare before tradespeople visit my property?

Clear access to the work area if possible, have any relevant documents ready (property surveys, existing plans, building regulations approvals), note any specific concerns or requirements, prepare a list of questions you want to ask, and consider taking before photos for your records. You don't need to clean extensively tradespeople understand they're assessing work sites.

How do I compare quotes effectively?

Don't just look at the bottom-line price. Compare: what's specifically included in each quote, material quality and specifications, project timelines and start dates, payment terms and schedules, warranties or guarantees offered, each tradesperson's experience and reviews, and how well they communicate. The middle quote often offers the best value, balancing cost and quality.
